Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer

352 Pages

This book...had me in a love/hate relationship with it. I LOVED the characters, storyline, and the villain's "touch her you die" kind of trope. The ending even got me. This book took you on a story of how the villain was not always the villain, and that life can turn you into something you never thought you would be. It follows a deep hatred from the King and the Villain Trystan. It has dragons and a mole that infiltrated the Villain's network. Even the most adorable frog named Kingsley, holds up signs to communicate in the most blunt ways. It had everything I enjoyed reading about.

Except, you could tell the two main characters were falling in love. You could feel the passion and love these characters had for each other. And nothing. Feelings were never expressed to each other, and they only shared one kiss because it helped them out of a bind with the guards. I love reading a book and rooting for the characters, finding myself clapping with excitement when they finally verbally express how they feel or even kiss. It's like when you watch a movie and the same thing happens, you jump for joy or yell " Finally!" at the screen. I wanted to do that the whole book and nothing.

It is definitely a preference and a personal opinion. So if slow-burn fantasy is your thing, then you will love this. If not, well then you have been given the heads up.  All in all, this book is a solid 8 out of 10.

The Obsession by Jesse Q. Sutanto Pages: 320   This book was okay. I didn't hate it. Didn't love it.  It was very predictable as things unfolded, which as a thriller that might have been what made me feel neutral about it.  Delilah has been controlled by sketchy men her whole life, until she takes things into her own hands.  Logan is infatuated with Delilah. He will do anything to maintain having her in his life.  I feel for Delilah because even after taking control of her life, she still is a magnet for sketchy men. She just wants what every other girl wants. A normal happy relationship. Which she thought she had with Logan.  Logan, this guy is a walking red flag. Yet on the other hand if he wasn't so creepy and intense he might have had things play out the way he wanted. Instead he hid cameras around Delilah's life. He blackmailed, and in his mind things had progressed way faster than on her end.
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig Pages: 288 I have been wanting to read this book since it came out. I finally got around to it. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. As someone who finds herself regretting a lot of my life choices but learning that they are what shaped me. This book was interesting to read. We all have regrets, but what if we did them differently? What if we chased that individual across states just to be with them. What if we took that job over seas. What if you followed that dream you had since you were a teen. Who would you be, and would you even regret those things once you saw how everything would have played out.  That is the question Nora Seed gets to find out about herself. She chose to stop living, just to be able to end up in the Midnight Library. Opening each book of regrets to see what would have been the life she chose.  It is a really interesting read because we can't go back in time but we always wonder and sometimes it is nice to hav...
Matched by Ally Condie Pages : 366 If you haven't seen the movie The Lobster, you should. This book reminded me of a younger version of that movie. Though instead of being turned into Animals for not finding a life partner, they just get exiled.    In this book love is not something you get to choose. It is distracting and can cause damage emotionally and physically sometimes if things don't work out. Something that isn't far from the truth in real life. So the government took that choice away and instead created an algorithm that chooses for you. Based off interests, compatibility, and longevity. They over see everything. The initial ceremony ball, the dates, the wedding. Your entire life is planned out. You can't even write, or read things that are not permitted. You know those little Knick Knacks that hold sentimental value for you? Those would all have to go to a museum. An if you dream to long, it is flagged. So many things are controlled in this world.  Cassi...
